Christmas Joy
Society has done all kinds of strange things to the Christian celebration. "Santa
Claus", red suit and all, is recognized in lands where christianity
has a very minor influence. Maybe its the spirit of giving and sharing
that is so captivating. It has become a children's festival of living snowmen,
miraculous reindeers and talking animals and trees.
We Christians celebrate "Christ' Mass" with joy because we know
that in the birth of Jesus, God"s plan for our continued life in Him
was begun.
Nothing magical happens on this "holy night" but we remember
with joy the night when it was holy with God's coming to us ---Coming to
us with loving forgiveness. The theme of Christmas for Christians is: God'
s love, God's forgiveness, God's grace as a gift. Can you see how this
theme is shone in society's spirit of giving and merriment?
However, without the basis of God's gift of loving forgiveness, it rings
hollow.

Reverend James.
